Spring is now here and students have been looking forward to spring break. But now, due to coronovirus closures, students will be out of school for at least two weeks. Students have already started to think about how they can use this time.
“What I am looking forward to during this break is that I get to practice driving,” said Sophomore Funmi John.
Vacation is one thing that some students were counting on during the break, but because of the Corona-virus all flights to Europe, minus the UK, were banned on Friday, March 13th. Despite this, some students are still planning to travel, leaving Maryland to drive to other states. “My family is planning on driving to Florida. It’s going to be a family trip, but with friends,” said Freshman Sueda Dacan.
Going out on a trip somewhere can be fun and all, but a much safer option due to the virus would be to stay inside and be collective on their break instead of going out to exotic places. This is the perfect time to relax and to not stress too much about school work or the overall concern about the virus.
Some students have started thinking about what they will do with all this free time. “I like how I can sleep in, relax and enjoy myself,” said Funmi.
Over the break, some people struggle with boredom if they are not doing any particular activities. Here are some suggestions from your fellow students to help break that boredom cycle.
You can search up some games on your phone that may break your boredom. I suggest vocabulary games because not only are they fun and addicting, they are also quite educational in the sense that you learn new words. You can also pick up a book and read it. Even though some people may not enjoy reading like others do, that’s okay. There are tons of options that you could do, it’s almost endless. Overall, don’t get too stressed out if you are bored over this long break. Maybe even try something new, you never if you will like it until you try it.
Overall, this break can be a great time to try out things that you have never tried out before. It’s also about spending quality time with family and friends and being safe.
